Chennai band Billy revives Billy Joel and Eric Clapton Classics for Valentine's Day

When Bluebirds takes stage for ‘The Piano Man’ and ‘The Guitar Man’ in Bay 146 on Valentine’s Day, they will work more than playing music. They will revive an era when love Gathagit and Rock Anthem -shaped romance and relationships. The Chennai-based band, with the roots pulling back until 1969, is ready to pay a tribute to Billy Joel and Eric Clapton-two music veterans defined what it means to love, lose and live.

The band’s basist Rajan Muthukrition says, “We have grown up listening to Billy Joel and Eric Clapton.” “His music is mesmerized. A piano man and a guitar man – this is a rare combination, but a beautiful. ,

“This concert is special for us,” the band’s lead singer Jesudasana Rajassekaran says. “I discovered Billy Joel in 1978 when my American girlfriend gave me her two songbooks. It was my introduction to Valentine’s Day. Since then, his music has been a part of my life. ,

For drummer Shyam Rao, tribute is also about heritage. While his audience includes old fans who are indifferent to their youth music, small listeners are equally prepared for these classic tunes.

Shyam says, “Recently, we paid a deep purple tribute, and I wondered how many 20-Somethings knew the songs,” music develops, but the roots matter. As an old band, it is our job to keep that fire alive. ,

Through age

Originally established in Madurai by an Anglo-Indian family in 1969, Bluebords first played dance music at weddings and community programs. By the 1980s, he embraced the rock and role. Then, in 1985, they dissolved. “We had nothing until 2000 after 2000,” says Rajan. “It was once considered a reunion gig, but we never stopped.”

Now, the band is a mixture of old and new members. Rajsekaran, once a young musician in Madurai, is now its charismatic frontman. Rajan, who once praised him from a distance, is his bandmate. Shyam, who left his IT job to pursue music full -time, is the backbone of the group.

One night of memories

Valentine’s Day settist is deeply individual. Each song is bound by a memory.

“Vienna ‘and’ Kewal The Good Die Young ‘by Billy Joel.

For Shyam, Clapton’s ‘Wonderful Tonite’ is a song that performs longer sex after the night ends. “We used to play it on a long drive. This was always the last song of the night, “he says.

And for Rajan, ‘you may be right’ by Billy Joel and captured the sheer joy of ‘late down’ performance by Clapton. “When we play those songs, energy changes in the room. People cannot help but can dance. ,

In Bay 146, an intimate site with a dedicated music-love congestion, Bluebords expect an audience that spreads generations. “We see that young people are enjoying our music, which is more than a large crowd,” Rajan says, “They tell us, ‘Wow, what is the inspiration.”

Rajan is in his 60s, Rajashekaran in the 70s and Shyam in his 50s. But as they talk about music, memories and love, they seem infallible. Their laughter is easy, their enthusiasm is contagious. They are romantic in the heart. I ask them what youth keeps them. All three say the same thing. But Rajsekaran says this best: “The day I stop singing, the day is when I start aging.”
