Christopher Nolan, Dennis Villainyuway and James Cameron paid tribute to Imax Pioneer David Keghli, dead at 77

In the development of IMAX, a central man has died at the age of 77, one of the most leading advocates of David Kaghali and large-up cinema. His son, producer Geoff Kehli, confirmed that he died on Thursday in New York after a fight with neuroendocrine prostate cancer.

For more than five decades, in a career, Kehli worked on more than 500 IMAX presentations, from nature documentaries to major Hollywood blockbusters. He began his journey in 1972, after being inspired by the Imax film, his wife, Postprint Company DKP 70 mm co-founder with Petricia North of superiorHis company became synonymous with quality control, in which no IMAX print was leaving the laboratory without the approval of Kehli. In 1988, the business was acquired by IMAX, where Kehli worked as the company’s first Chief Quality Officer.

Filmmakers credited him widely to help him bring IMAX technology to mainstream Hollywood. Christopher Nolan, who used IMAX cameras for the first time Dark nightKeghli was described as both a patron and a friend. Nolan said, “No filmmaker will be able to shoot or screen the shooting or screen of any format today, if not for David Keghli – our whole industry pays him a large debt,” Nolan said.

Director Ryan Kougler, whose upcoming film Sinners One of Keghli’s final projects was, expanding and passionately for film science attracted his careful attention. Kougler said, “Whoever used to blow his mind with images in an Emax dramatic presentation, has thanked David for this.”

James Cameron, whose Avatar Films have greatly rely on the IMAX presentation, praising Kehli “a strong colleague and a true believer in creating a final cinema experience.” Dennis Villainuway, currently working with IMAX Tibba 3Added: “Some people are irreplaceable. David Keghli is one of them. Cinema is mourning one of its most magnificent technical masters.”

Kehli remained active till the last week of his life, overseeing the daily OdissiHe is alive by his wife Petricia, Children’s Geoff, Chris and Jennifer, and grandchildren Sam and Ellie.
