Cynthia Erivo revealed that once she was ready with a costume for a day’s shooting on Wicked, she liked to skip to the bathroom, even during breaks.
Cynthia Erivo is opening up about the painstaking process of shooting Jon M. Chu’s highly anticipated adaptation Wicked. The actor who played Elphaba the Wicked Witch of the West in the film told on Sentimental Men podcast That she would skip going to the bathroom during long shooting days lasting more than 12 hours. This is because after wearing his costume and harness for stunt sequences, it will take more time to change for such breaks. What did Cynthia say?
During the conversation, Cynthia said: “There were two or three different harnesses for different stunts. Those days were really interesting because once you get in the harness, you don’t want to come out of the harness because it takes a lot of time to readjust everything – wires and whatnot. Those days can be really long. They can be really tiring because your body is going through strange things.
‘I’m not dealing with it’
She further said, “I don’t go to the bathroom. Once I’m in my costume – and this is probably a terrible idea – and the harness is on, I’m not doing it. I’m not dealing with it. There are a lot of layers. It is what it is. No, I don’t need the bathroom…let’s go. let’s go. We are in it.”
Wicked also stars Ariana Grande as Glinda and Jonathan Bailey as Fierro Tigelaar. It is directed by Jon M. Chu and written by Winnie Holzman and Dana Fox. The musical brings Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman’s much-loved stage production to the big screen. Split into two parts, the first will be released in theaters on November 22. Wicked: Part Two is set for release on November 21, 2025 by Universal Pictures.
