DC Studios has announced that Damon Lindelof and Chris Mundy will join the writing team for the upcoming Green Lantern series, titled LanternLindelof is famous for his work on Lost and HBO’s Watchmanand Mundy, showrunner of the acclaimed Netflix series OzarkReady to bring his writing skills to this much-anticipated project.

The news was confirmed by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn on Instagram, where he explained that Lantern is being built on the strong foundation laid by the initial pilot script and series bible written by Mundy, Tom King, and Lindelof.

Lindelof has extensive experience crafting complex, character-driven stories in genre television, such as the leftoversCombined with Mundy’s success in creating an in-depth narrative OzarkThat positions Lantern as a potential standout in the expanded DC Universe.

Lantern The series is one of the first major projects announced as part of DC Studios’ reimagined slate of film and television titles. According to co-head Peter Safran, the series will be “a huge HBO-quality event”, drawing comparisons to the critically acclaimed true DetectiveThe story will focus on two iconic Green Lanterns, Hal Jordan and John Stewart, as they unravel a mystery with significant implications for the broader DCU narrative.

Hal Jordan, previously played by Ryan Reynolds in the 2011 film green LanternAnd John Stewart, one of DC’s first black superheroes, will take the lead in this new series. His investigation is expected to tie into the bigger plans in store that DC Studios wants to showcase across its cinematic and television properties.

The project is separate from the Green Lantern series previously being developed by Greg Berlanti for Max, which would not move forward.
