Washington: American writer-director David Lynch, known for his surreal vision in films like ‘Blue Velvet’ and ‘Mulholland Drive’, has died at the age of 78. The filmmaker’s family announced the director’s demise through a Facebook post on Thursday. , Variety reported.
Lynch revealed in 2024 that he had been diagnosed with emphysema after a lifetime of smoking and would likely no longer be able to leave his house to direct.
His family wrote in a Facebook post announcing his death,
“It is with extreme regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and artist David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There is a huge hole in the world now that he is no longer with us. David Lynch was born on January 20, 1946 in Missoula, Montana.
