It is always an exciting feeling to have hip-hop group Straight to Death perform in Delhi. Siddhant Sharma (aka Shant) and Abhijay Negi (aka Encore ABJ) nunchaku And hi friend The hitmaker duo can’t wait to perform in their hometown today.
Negi says, “Coming back home is always special. Our music comes from our experiences and most of them are from Delhi. The songs we write about are a reflection of the people who attend our concerts in Delhi. Let’s take it.”
However, for this pair the relationship goes beyond just music. “Whenever we come to Delhi, we always feel that the connection is not just limited to music. The energy level in this city is always off the charts. The crowd is a little more rowdy and angsty, just like our music. Last time we performed in Delhi, it was a unique experience and so, this time, our expectations are even bigger,” says Sharma.
The duo, popular for tracks like Namaste and Shaktimaan, insist that Delhi was deliberately the last city in the circuit of the nationwide Lunch Break India Tour in collaboration with Zomato Live, which saw them perform in 13 cities.
“We have planned some surprises for Delhiites, which we are extremely excited about. This set is going to be longer than the sets we’ve done in other cities as part of this tour. Keeping Delhi as the final city was a conscious decision for all of us, as we wanted to give it our all and our best. We’ve saved the best for last,” he signs off.
