The former couple, whose relationship has been embroiled in a bitter battle over ownership of the $500 million vineyard since Jolie filed for divorce in 2016.
Page Six, citing sources, said both Pitt and Jolie will be deposed as part of the trial, meaning they could be forced to testify about their private lives, which could potentially lead to their upset. Can reveal more information about the relationship.
Despite efforts to resolve the matter through talks, insiders believe that an agreement is unlikely to be reached at this stage. Page Six quoted a source close to the proceedings as commenting, “There’s no way Angie and Brad will finally have to sit through the testimony now as they head toward trial.”
What is the matter?
The matter, which started as a business dispute, has become more complicated as personal issues have surfaced between the two stars. The winery was purchased in 2008, during the couple’s more harmonious years, when they were raising their children together.
At the time, Pitt and Jolie jointly owned Chateau Miraval, with Pitt owning 60% and Jolie owning 40%. But just before their wedding in 2014, Pitt transferred 10 percent of his share in the property to Jolie, making them 50/50 equal partners.
The conflict began when Jolie sold half of her shares in Chateau Miraval to the wine division of the Stoli Group, without consulting Pitt. The actor responded by filing a lawsuit, arguing that his agreement gave him the right of first refusal to buy his shares, which he claims violated it.
He is now in court seeking to reverse the sale of his shares to Stoli. In response, Jolie has accused Pitt of trying to impose a harsh non-disclosure agreement, which she says would silence him about past alleged bad behavior.
Jolie’s legal team further argued that Pitt’s actions were motivated by personal motives, not just business concerns.
Meanwhile, Stoli Group, which bought Jolie’s shares, is also seeking dismissal of the case. A hearing regarding his request is scheduled for March 2024, after which a trial date can be set.
At the center of this legal dispute lies not only a huge estate but also the symbol of the couple’s once united family. When Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie purchased Chateau Miraval, it was a romantic gesture to raise their children in a vineyard surrounded by the beauty of Provence.
