On Friday, June 14, The Sunday Times Style caused a stir online by releasing the cover of its upcoming issue on Instagram. The cover features a close-up of 33-year-old Joe Alwyn, posing in a blue collared sweater, and the headline reads, “London Boy: What Joe Alwyn did next.”
Has Joe become another ‘invisible thread’ between Alwyn and Taylor Swift?
The title immediately sparked speculation among readers, who questioned in the comments section whether the Kindness actor was aware of the title’s obvious hint, which relates to the song ‘London Boy’ from Taylor Swift’s 2019 album ‘Lover’. The album was released two years after Swift, 34, and Alwyn first got together and during the peak of their romance.
In London Boy, Swift describes the qualities she likes about a London boy with the lyrics, “But something happened, I heard him laugh / First I saw the dimples in his cheeks and then I heard his accent.”
Swift and Alwyn’s relationship, which lasted six years, will end in early April 2023.

Swift TTPD also hints at London connection
However, sharp-eyed fans began analysing Swift’s latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, and speculated that the track ‘So Long London’ was a nod to Alwyn. The title and lyrics, which mention spending time in London, fueled these theories.
Swift’s lyrics in TTPD include, “I stopped trying to make her laugh / I stopped trying to drill the safe,” and later she mentions the “house in the Heath” she left behind.
In a December 2023 Time cover interview, Swift indicated the song’s message was about saving a failed relationship and dealing with loneliness.
Swift told Time, “Life is short. Enjoy adventures. I locked myself in my house for so many years — I’ll never get that time back. I’m more confident now than I was six years ago.”
Previously, People reported that Alwyn wanted his romance with Swift to remain “his private story.”

However, Swift is currently enjoying her Kindle with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. In her interview with Time, Swift detailed how making their romance public has been different. “When you say a relationship is public, that means I get to see him doing what he likes, we’re coming out to each other, other people are and we don’t care,” she said.
“On the contrary, you have to make a lot of effort to make sure no one knows you’re dating someone. And we’re proud of each other.”
