A Hindi song featuring Govinda as Superman has caught the attention of filmmaker James Gunn. He reacted to a clip on Instagram Stories.
Director James Gunn recently announced that he has completed shooting his new Superman film, which is one of the most anticipated films of the DC Universe for 2025. But even Gunn could not have predicted how this 1988 Bollywood film starring Govinda would create a crossover between Marvel and DC. On his Instagram Stories, the director has given a fun reaction to a track from the film Dariya Dil, which features Govinda as Superman and Kimi Katkar as Spider-Man (Woman?). James Gunn is ‘You’re my Superman’
On Tuesday, James Gunn shared a clip of the song Tu Mera Superman in which Govinda as Superman and Kimi Katkar as Spiderman are seen romancing and dancing in a park. In the clip, Govinda’s character punches a man and throws him into the clouds, fights other goons and saves Kimi’s life. The two then start dancing with other people in a park. Sharing the clip, the director wrote in the caption, “DC (handshake emoticon) Marvel.”

More information
Directed by K. Ravishankar, the film did not feature Govinda in a superhero role, as it was not a complete Superman remake. It was only for a song, in which both Govinda and Kimi Katkar wore superhero costumes, and were seen romancing each other while flying around the city.

Meanwhile, in July James announced on his Instagram that he had finished filming the new Superman movie, which stars David Corenswet as the young Clark Kent.
Sharing a picture with the cast, he wrote in the caption, “And that’s a wrap. God bless our cast and crew whose commitment, creativity and hard work have brought this project to life. I set out to make a film about a good man in a world that isn’t always so nice. And the goodness, kindness and love I have received on a daily basis on set has inspired me and kept me going when I felt I couldn’t keep up with myself. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. It’s been an honour. The destination has been Superman, but the journey has been hard work and laughter and emotions and ideas and magic we have shared together on set – and for that I am forever grateful (red heart emoticon).”
Rachel Brosnahan will play Lois Lane in this film while Nicholas Hoult will play the role of Lex Luthor. This film will be the first feature film after Gunn and Peter Safran became the new bosses of DC.
Superman will release in theatres on July 11, 2025.
