The Vanderpump Rules reunion series began Tuesday night with the first of three special episodes. The cast reunited a year later for “Scandoval”, which featured former castmates Ariana Madix and Tom Sandoval sitting in the same semicircle and acknowledging each other’s existence for the first time since last season’s reunion.
The trailer for the traditional post-finale sitdown hinted at the shock to come as the main cast gathered in Los Angeles to discuss the events of season 11, which began shooting right after last year’s scandalous season finale.
The last episode, which aired on May 7, ended on an explosive note when Maddix fled a cast event early after refusing to film with Sandoval, who had approached her for an attempted taped apology. The former lovers have been communicating through a third party and have not directly filmed together this season.
Season 11 resulted in a national scandal that revealed co-star Sandoval’s secret affair with former classmate Rachel Lewis. As a result, Lewis left the blockbuster series, which had set viewership records with its finale and reunion shows last year, to face the problem.
What did the reunion mean for Sandoval and Maddix?
The most popular storyline this season was Sandoval and his former partner Maddix living in the same house after the Sandoval case.
The Maddix had already filed a petition to force the sale of their $2 million estate. During the reunion, the former partners said they could not legally discuss whether the house was for sale. However, Maddix, who apparently bought a new home in Los Angeles, said, “I’ve been in Airbnbs and then living in New York. At present, no [I’m not living there]I didn’t spend the night there last night.
Sandoval also addressed the claims made against him by Lewis. “Looking back, I think he is a coward. And I think for her to be sitting here and preaching to everyone that she’s moving on, but still constantly talking about me and everyone else, is absolutely ridiculous,” Sandoval told iHeartMedia. Criticized the “Rachel Goes Wicked” podcast, which she left due to mental health problems and unequal pay for herself and her co-stars. “We both did it. We both chose to do it. We both are responsible.”
