Film director Vipin Das while talking about his new film insists, it is a light-hearted film, an entertaining film which focuses on a marriage. Guruvayur AmbalanadayilReleasing on 16th May.
Speaking over the phone, Vipin says that unlike his previous films, this is a comedy that brings together Prithviraj and Basil Joseph.
The filmmaker from Thiruvananthapuram had proved his mettle as a director Mudhugau (2016). after this it happened Antakshari (2022) and Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (JJJJH) (2022).

“It’s a genre I haven’t done. Two out of my three films – antakshari and jjjh– Dealt with deep topics. Naturally, I don’t want to work on the same subject, it’s exciting to work on different genres,” he says, ”It has all the elements of a fun film. There are songs, there is dance, there is action…we have had such films before, festival-like films. It’s been a long time since we’ve seen a film of that genre.
Vipin reiterated that he would lose his enthusiasm if he directed films of the same genre or treated every film the same. “I’ll be bored!”

JJJJH is set to be a blockbuster in 2022. Starring Basil Joseph and Darshana Rajendran, the black comedy on domestic abuse was told in a unique way that captured the imagination of the audience.

“Unusual narrative techniques that I used jjjh Not used in this film. Guruvayur Ambalanadayil Deepu Pradeep has written. My job is to bring their story to the screen visually. I believe I will be able to do justice to his script.
Produced under the banner of Prithviraj Productions, the film also stars Anaswara Rajan, Nikhila Vimal, Mamita Baiju, Rekha Jagadish, Aju Varghese and Yogi Babu.

“Prithviraj (Anand) and Tulsi (Venu) play brother-in-law and brother-in-law who are also good friends. Their chemistry and banter make the film better,” says Vipin.
Justifying the huge star cast, the filmmaker explains that since the subject is a typical Indian wedding, naturally, relatives, friends and neighbors also gather for the festivities. “Each character, regardless of screen time, has a certain place in the film.”
During a wedding in Guruvayoor, an incident of the groom marrying someone else and not his fiancee came to light, leading to several comical incidents.

The story of a groom unknowingly marrying someone else’s fiancee was the subject of the Jagadish-starrer house warming (1992). Vipin hastens to say this Guruvayur Ambalanadayil There is no resemblance to the old film, but only one similarity.

“Prithviraj excels in comedy and his joy will definitely tickle the audience. It’s the same with Tulsi, with whom I worked jjjh, Basil has an innate sense of comedy and so it was great to watch his interactions on set.
Shot in Kochi, Guruvayur and Dubai, several scenes in the film featuring the Guruvayur temple were shot on a set at Karattupallikara in Perumbavoor.
