Following Nayanthara's open letter, Dhanush's lawyer issued a statement: "Remove the content within 24 hours or..."

Days after Nayanthara called out Dhanush for claiming Rs 10 crore for copyright infringement with the Netflix series, Dhanush’s lawyer issued a statement threatening legal action if the content was not removed within 24 hours. Will be done. The statement from Dhanush’s legal representative read, “Advise your client to stop using the material infringing my client’s copyright on the film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan in your client’s documentary titled Nayanthara Beyond the Fairytale within 24 hours , otherwise my client will be removed.” Forced to initiate appropriate legal action, including seeking damages of Rs 10 crore, against your client and Netflix India.

Dhanush’s lawyer also refuted Nayanthara’s statement that the material in question was behind-the-scenes footage shot on a personal phone. “My client is the producer of the film and they know where every single penny they have spent for the production of the film. Your client has said that my client has hired someone to shoot the behind-the-scenes footage and the said statement. This is baseless and has been provided to your client,” the statement concluded.

Netflix Original Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale will stream from today, coinciding with Nayanthara’s 40th birthday.

For those who haven’t followed the series of events, here’s an update for you. On Saturday, Nayanthara shared an open letter on Instagram, blaming Dhanush for touching “an all-time low” as she demanded a compensation of Rs 10 crore from the young actress. The reason for the claim was a 3-second clip from Nayanthara’s film Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, produced by Dhanush, which appeared in the documentary trailer.

An excerpt from Nayanthara’s letter reads, “After two long years of struggling with you for the NOC (No Objection Certificate) and waiting for your approval for our Netflix documentary release, we have finally given up, re-edited and “Decided to compromise.” Since the current edition you have refused to allow the use of Naanum Rowdy Dhaan songs or scene cuts, even photographs, despite multiple requests.”

The actress further said, “Your legal notice after the trailer release of the Netflix documentary is even more shocking. We were shocked to read the lines in which you questioned the use of some video (just 3 seconds) which was our personal But were shot.” Equipment and that too BTS scene which is already publicly available on social media and a loss of Rs 10 crores has been claimed for mere 3 seconds, this is the lowest for you and tells a lot about your character. I wish you were half the person you portray on stage at the audio launch in front of your innocent fans, but clearly you don’t practice what you preach, at least not to me and my partner.”

“Does a creator become an emperor controlling the life, liberty and freedom of all individuals in the set? Any deviation from the emperor’s order attracts legal ramifications?” Nayanthara asked.

Nayanthara ended her post with the words, “It’s been almost 10 years since the film released and that’s a long time for someone to wear a mask in front of the world and be this disgusting. I haven’t forgotten all this.” The terrible things you have said about one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film loved by all even today, have already left unhealed wounds through the film industry. He was very sad after the film Aapka Ego was a blockbuster. Your displeasure over its success was felt even to the common man through the award ceremonies associated with this film (Filmfare 2016).” Watch:

In response, Nayanthara’s husband, director Vignesh Shivan, had shared an old motivational video of Dhanush on Instagram. In the clip, Dhanush encouraged to spread love and positivity. Vignesh captioned the post: “Vazhu waza udu (live and let live), #SpreadLove #OmnamaShivaya, at least for the few innocent die-hard fans who believe in all this! I sincerely pray to God! People Change and find happiness in other people’s happiness.” In the video, the filmmaker also attached pictures of the legal notice sent to Netflix India by the director, who later deleted the post.
