A young theater troupe launched by amateur and professional theater artists in 2024, History of India (COI), is ready to stage another show of its first Kannada production. ShivohamLast year premiered, it will be the first COI show at Ranga Shankara in JP Nagar on 11 March.
According to Sinopsis, the drama is both a mythological and social drama, written and directed by the famous theater manufacturer Ganesh Mandarthi, which combines two stories. One is the mythological saga of Shiva. The second story is that of a character echoing with the intensity of Shiva, which emerges as a revolutionary who experiences the suffering of lost love. Sinopsis of the congregation says that the play also talks about social norms and female characters challenging male ego, who tries to cross the boundaries, whether in victory or defeat.
At the back inspiration ShivohamGanesh Mandarati said that Shiva has been a primary deity in the land, and he wanted to make a task inspired by him. “When Shiva loses his wife Dakshaani, he becomes unhappy. I wanted to show the side of Shiva where a leader of the backward community, a yogi, and a deity of the land become inconsistent. This is the story of how God can be weak like humans like us. The other side, or Shiva’s dual life is the inspiration behind the drama, ”he said.

How mythological and social narratives are connected in the play, it is explained in detail, “Bhasmasura-Mahini, Shiva and Chandla and Shankaracharya’s encounter are three stories in this drama. In Bhasmasura Mohini, we talk about Pravati and how Vishnu took the form of Mohini to distract the demon Bhasmasura. In the second, Shiva becomes a woman to dance in the Yamuna River. In the third, Chandla’s wife Chandle interacted with Shankaracharya in Sanskrit. In all three stories, femininity has the upper hand. Meanwhile, the play’s social story Strand talks about backward classes and issues around them.
