Speaking to ANI, he remembered the legendary singer as a father and said, “He was a true father. We definitely miss him. He was a wonderful husband. In fact. Dad never socialized, he was always with his family, playing with us. He was a very down to earth, very soft spoken, very charitable person. Organizers have included a tribute program in honor of the 100th birth anniversary of four stalwarts of Indian cinema: actor-filmmaker Raj Kapoor, director Tapan Sinha, Telugu cinema star Akkineni Nageswara Rao (ANR), and singer Mohammed Rafi at the 55th International Film Festival of India. “I’m really amazed by the 45 years and I mean people remember him that way, like you do. I mean wherever I go I mean they just talk about him I mean they just miss him. I mean the whole time, I’m not just talking about this year but there are a lot of shows going on at any given time,” Shahid said. There are a lot of shows going on around the world.

Mohammed Rafi has sung many songs, which include ‘Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Paoge’, ‘Yun Hi Tum Mujhse Baat’, ‘Yeh Jo Chilmun Hai’, ‘Mera Mann Tera Pyaasa’, ‘Kitna Pyaara Vaada’.

Shahid shared that it is difficult to choose his favorite songs, but two of them are close to his heart and he gets emotional while listening to them, “‘Tum Mujhe Yun Bhula Na Paoge’ and ‘Dil Ka Suna Saaz Tarana Dhundhega’ ‘, there are some songs that I think are perfect for my father.”

Mohammed Rafi was born on 24 December 1924 and was always considered the most talented and greatest singer of his time. Rafi’s incredible journey from humble beginnings to becoming famous in the world of music is a symbol of skill and determination. From romantic, emotional songs, qawwali, ghazals and bhajans to classical and party numbers, he excelled in them all. He received six Filmfare Awards and one National Film Award.

In 1967, he was honored with the Padma Shri award by the Government of India. Rafi worked with many music directors, most notably Naushad Ali. In the late 1950s and 1960s, he worked with other composers of that era, such as OP Nayyar, Shankar Jaikishan, SD Burman and Roshan.

The great and evergreen singer died on July 31, 1980. His tunes are still loved by music lovers and will continue to influence generations to come.

Meanwhile, IFFI 2024, which began on November 20, is showcasing over 180 international films from 81 countries, including 16 world premieres, 3 international premieres, 43 Asian premieres and 109 Indian premieres.
