‘I pray that this is not a sign of things to come’: Stephen Colbert reacted to Charlie Kirk’s deadly shooting

Stephen Colbert condemned the shooting of Charlie Kirk in the episode of The Late Show.

Stephen Colbert expressed condolences to Charlie Kirk, who was badly shot during a turning point USA event.

Stephen Colbert’s message

“Our condolences go out for their family and all their loved ones. I am very old to personally remember the political violence of the 1960s, and I hope it is clear to everyone in America that political violence does not resolve any of our political differences. Political violence only leads to more political violence. And I pray to all my hearts.

What happened to Charlie Kirk?

Charlie Kirk, CEO and co-founder of Conservative Youth Organization Turning Point USA, was shot at an event at a Utah College on Wednesday.

Cancer was speaking in a debate organized by Point USA Turning at Utah Valley University when officials said the shooter was expelled from a roof. The video posted on social media showed Kirk sitting under a white tent and speaking in a microphone in one hand. A single shot comes out and Kirk reaches up with his right hand because blood flows from the left side of his neck.

The shooter targeted a person, said the Commissioner of State Department of Public Safety, Bu Mason.

Utah village. Spencer Cox called the murder a “political murder”.

A “person of interest” was in custody on Wednesday evening, although no allegations were announced immediately. The governor said that the authorities had no idea that another person was included.

Kirk was a top podcaster, culture warrior and an associate of President Donald Trump. He led the GOP’s attempt to remake the Gate-out-Vote attempt in the 2024 election, based on the principle that thousands of Trump were supporters who rarely voted, but could be persuaded to vote.

His assassination is the latest example of political violence in the US, with a series of political ideologies and both major political parties have been influenced.

Stephen Colbert’s show canceled

In July, CBS confirmed that ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’ would end in May 2026. The network stated that it was a “financial decision” due to the tough TV market. However, there may be speculation that other reasons may be included.

Colbert has been a strong critic of former President Donald Trump. According to the Hollywood reporter, many people have questioned whether there was nothing with the decision of the recent merger between CBS Paramount Global and Skydance, which required FCC approval. The CBS has denied that the cancellation had anything to do with politics or merger.
