“You will cry,” my friend said, when I enthusiastically told him that I have managed to get a ticket for a coldplay concert in Ahmedabad.

Bookmyshow left my long -time dreams of watching the performance of the British Rock Band Coldplay in India after waiting in endless digital queues with six digits number every time after announcing tickets. But then, a few weeks before his show in Ahmedabad, the site provided more tickets. This time I was about 15 thousand in the queue. As my situation started showing the promise, my anxiety started coming to the surface. By the time I hit the 5000th place, I started pacing. The screen then announced ‘It’s Your Turn’. Standing area, my favorite place for concerts, which was then filled, magically opened some slots.

It was to happen, I thought.

“So with whom are you going with?” My friends asked.

“alone.”

Cut down on 26 January, and I stood at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad among more than 1 million people singing ‘Lights will Guide You Home’. It was almost real. We realized that we were all part of something big. Because Coldplay’s concerts are more than just music. Because, I tell you this, Chris, Johnny, Gai and Will Champion will be ‘Fix You’ together.

When I flew a red eye flight from Chennai in Ahmedabad, tired and excited, I joined the blazing sun with fans. Many hours ago we were packed like Sardin to start the show. We stood there for hours, waited impatiently, through the opening acts, waiting for Chris to Waltz with their ‘high power’. He did the same, sent the crowd to tizzle.

This was followed by ‘Adventure of a Lifetime’, ‘Paradise’, ‘Viva La Vida’ and much more. It felt as if the sky opened the stars on us and rained. Along with different shapes and colors from the sky, the vibrant color laser lights shining through the stadium, amazing fireworks playing background scores for songs, the concert of the coldplay lived till all publicity.

The concert was punctured by several poignant moments. For example, when Chris invited a fan to sing with him. Or when a part of ‘such thing’ was sung in sign language. Or the moment when Chris tricked the confession with one hand.

The entire stadium played applause screaming, breaking her into a complex footwork set for guitar notes in ‘Fix You’ and then throwing streamers in her hand. He also wished us for Republic Day and sang Vande Mataram.

As the popular ‘Sky Full of Stars’ begins playing early notes, Chris instructed the audience to remove his phone. “Hands in the sky, phone in pocket … no one needs a phone for this song, we are all in the same band, a big family …”

And perhaps that’s why someone will always look out for you in the concert. When paper stars descended from the sky, as Chris sang as ‘A Sky of Stars’, a man standing next to me caught a falling star and presented me. And when I was passed, another ‘coldplayer’ offered me water. How can anyone be alone in a coldplay concert?

I certainly came back a different person from the coldplay concert. None of the songs seem or now does not feel the same. As I held another red eye flight back from Ahmedabad to Chennai, yet listening to coldplay songs in my headphone, I knew it was a night that I would not forget.

Everything felt right until my playlist stumbled on ‘something like this’. Suddenly my heart looked so full. Tears started flowing on my face. I buried my face in my dupatta and until my flight landed in Chennai.

Whatever I wanted to do, he was to go back home, creep in my couch and thrown out my heart, provoked incredible high from the concert. Instead, I picked up a love -shaped confinement that fell into the plane from my bag and placed it safely in my bag. I went to the office, and told my editor that I did not know what to do with these intense feelings. Then I sat in front of my laptop and let the words handle.

Eventually they were all right. I cried

And I can say that I was there. And this was all.
