New Delhi: As India prepares to celebrate its 78th Independence Day, the spirit of patriotism and unity is felt across the country. Vrinda Dahal who plays the role of Vaishnavi in Sun Neo’s popular show ‘Chhathi Maiya Ki Bitiya’ shared her heartfelt feelings about the significance of the day and her journey to make India her home.
Originally from Nepal, Vrinda shares a deep connection with India and its culture. She says, “Actually, I am from Nepal but at heart I am an Indian. Independence means freedom and when India got freedom from the British, everyone understood the true essence of freedom and how it can change a country. The upcoming Independence Day is the first day I will be celebrating in India and I am very excited for the celebration. My favourite patriotic film is ‘Swades’; the story and Shah Rukh Khan’s acting is superb. I also love the song ‘Teri Mitti’ from ‘Kesari’. Whenever I hear this song, my eyes fill up with tears. If I ever get a chance to play a patriotic character, I would like to play Indira Gandhi.”
He said, “I think the pride of India is the people of the country. I am Nepali, but they accept me for my character and appreciate my skills. Now I am an Indian, and I am very proud to be an Indian. From my side, Happy Independence Day to everyone. Like your country, be independent, believe in yourself and always look ahead. My Massi’s birthday falls on Independence Day on August 15. For me, both days are precious events on the same day. I am very excited.”
Chhathi Maiyya Ki Bitiya is the story of Vaishnavi (played by Vrinda Dahal), an orphan who has a deep devotion towards Chhathi Maiyya, whom she considers her mother. Devoleena Bhattacharjee plays Chhathi Maiyya, a divine figure who provides protection and guidance to her devotees. The show beautifully captures the essence of devotion towards Chhathi Maiyya, highlighting her role in leading her worshippers through the challenges of life and celebrating the victory of good over evil.
