Actress Jacqueline Fernandez is all set to mark her presence at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival.
Excited to walk the red carpet, Jacqueline said, ‘I am extremely excited to be attending the Cannes Film Festival in collaboration with BMW once again this year and I can’t wait for it. It feels great to represent the Southeast Asian diaspora on a global stage, and it’s an honor to walk the prestigious red carpet where so many legends have already walked.’
Meanwhile, the India Pavilion was inaugurated at the festival on Wednesday.
Representing the country, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, attended the event along with Javed Ashraf, Ambassador of India to France.
Organized each year by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, India’s participation in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival is led by the National Film Development Corporation as the nodal agency and FICCI as the industry partner.
The pavilion reflects India’s continued commitment to showcasing its rich cinematic heritage and promoting international collaboration with the global film fraternity. Several states/UTs like Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra are representing India at the Cannes Film Market this year.
During the inauguration of the India Pavilion, Tholoana Rose Ncheke, Chairperson of the National Film and Video Foundation, South Africa, Christian Jeune, Director of the Film Department, Deputy General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival and filmmaker Richie Mehta also marked their presence.
Speaking at the inauguration, Sanjay Jaju said, ‘It is a pleasure to see more Indian projects included in the official selection of Cannes this year, the competition is in a precarious relationship and I also acknowledge that both Projects have been beneficiaries of the support. “In terms of government incentives as well as official key production.”
“The India Pavilion here will serve as a hub for networking, collaboration and promotion of Indian cinema on the global platform. We want to foster a greater collaboration between the Indian audio-visual industry and international counterparts, thereby increasing visibility and reach. Richie Mehta also shared his views on the festival. “It’s a real honor to be a part of this inauguration,” said Richie Mehta.
