Washington: Santa F County Sheriff Aden Mendoza said on Friday that the death of legendary actor Jean Hackman and his wife, Betsi Arkawa is under investigation.

Deadline reported that while the official autopsy and toxicology reports are still pending, Sheriff Mendoza shared early findings, suggesting that hackman may die before a week before her body was discovered.

The couple, who had been married since 1991 and led a personal life, were found dead by maintenance workers on the afternoon of February 26, 2025.

The bodies were discovered in different rooms of his residence, one of his dogs was also found dead nearby.

According to the deadline, Sheriff Mendoza stated that there were no clear indications of dishonesty game.

“Based on our investigation, we can say with some certainty that the Jean Hackman’s pacemaker recorded its last program on 17 February 2025,” Sheriff Mendoza said during a brief press conference, “The investigation is still going on, and we are waiting for further details from the final autopsy and toxic science reports, which can meet the month.”

Regarding the deaths of Hackman, Arakawa and one of his dogs, Mendoza clarified that initial conclusions give carbon monoxide toxicity as a reason.

Sheriff also mentioned that there were no immediate signs of gas leakage or other environmental factors that could contribute to his death.

According to the deadline, an affidavit of 26 February describes a disturbing scene, “Another healthy dog ​​near the deceased, the deceased dog is 10–15 feet from the deceased woman in a bathroom closet, the heater is being moved, the bullet bottle is being opened and the bullets scattered next to the woman, located in a separate room.

Identification of drugs found at the scene, including delytiazame, tilanol, and thyroid drugs, remain unclear.

Sheriff Mendoza refused to confirm whether these privacy rules were associated with couple’s deaths. The investigation is still in its early stages.

The 95 -year -old Jean Hackman was a two -time Academy Award winner, who won the Oscars for his roles in the French connection (1971) and ‘Anforgiven’ (1992).

During his career, he was also nominated for several other prestigious awards, including ‘Boney and Clide’ (1967), ‘I Never Gaaya for My Father’ (1970), and ‘Mississippi Burning’ (1988).

Hackman, ‘Superman’ (1978) and ‘Superman II’, were known for their depiction of Lex Luther, as well as for their roles in films like ‘The Conversation’ (1974), ‘Hosieres’ (1986), ‘The Royal Tenonbaoms’ (2001), and ‘Enemy of the State’.

Her last on-screen appearance came in the 2004 ‘Welcome to Moseport’.
