Jitendra Kumar talks about mental health, Jeetu Bhaiya returns in Kota Factory Season 3

New Delhi: ‘Kota Factory’ returns to Netflix with its much-awaited third season, which brings to light the high-pressure world of IIT preparation.

Jitendra Kumar, who plays the beloved guru Jeetu Bhaiya, shared insights in a recent interview with ANI, highlighting the new season’s focus on mental health issues and cultural taboos surrounding therapy.

“Of course, mental health issues are still considered taboo in our society today,” Kumar said. “With the rise of digitalisation, we have become isolated social creatures. Mental health should not be considered taboo these days, and we need to discuss it openly. I am happy to be a part of a show that addresses this sensitive topic.”

Kumar spoke about the rigorous preparation he went through to bring his character to life. “I had several discussions with writers Abhishek Yadav and Saurabh Khurana to make this fictional character real. Though I have experience of teaching, Jeetu bhaiya is larger than life, connecting with students in a way that is rare in real life. It was a challenge to portray this character authentically.”

Sharing a specific example of this effort he said, “There is a scene in which there is a lecture on the word ‘shringar’, which we discussed for 2-3 hours before shooting. I wanted my character to be real and relatable, not preachy.”

Kumar also spoke about Jeetu Bhaiya’s inspiring dialogues that resonate with him personally.

‘Tayaari hi jeet hai’ is one such dialogue that I find very valuable. Another dialogue, ‘Tu late hai, akela nahi’ highlights the shared journey of students in this competitive race.

The third season of ‘Kota Factory’ delves deep into the mental health struggles of students preparing for IIT exams.

It emphasizes the importance of guidance and the realities of dealing with high-pressure academic tasks.

This season continues the story of Jeetu Bhaiya, wherein he takes on the responsibility of a mentor, especially after the tragic suicide of a student in Season 2.

Viewers also see the return of characters like Vaibhav, Balmukund and Uday, who juggle friendship, education and romantic relationships.

‘Lust Stories 2’ actress Tillotama Shome is also a part of season 3, playing the role of a chemistry teacher.
