Four men have been arrested in connection with the tragic murder of General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor. Nearly three months after the 37-year-old soap opera star was shot and killed in downtown Los Angeles, the LAPD has taken several suspects connected to the crime into custody. Wactor was shot and killed after he and a friend caught three men trying to steal his car’s catalytic converter.

Late Thursday night, the LAPD announced that Central Bureau Homicide had served search warrants at multiple locations throughout the region in connection with the ongoing investigation into the death of Johnny Vactor. In a statement to PEOPLE on August 15, the department revealed that multiple arrests have been made and evidence recovered as part of the investigation into the May 25 homicide.
“This morning, the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Homicide Bureau served search warrants related to the John Wactor case at multiple locations in Los Angeles,” the statement said.
Wachter was tragically shot after confronting armed car thieves who were trying to steal the catalytic converter from his vehicle. Best known for his roles in supernatural series such as Siberia and Criminal Minds, Wachter’s death left his mother and two younger siblings in mourning.
4 arrested in connection with Johnny Victor’s murder?
The LAPD announced the arrests on August 15, identifying the suspects as Robert Barceló (18) of Huntington Park, Frank Olano (22) of Inglewood, and Leonel Gutierrez and Sergio Estrada (both 18) of Los Angeles County.

The arrests came just a week after police released photos of the suspects and their vehicle, a black Infiniti Q50 sedan, which the AP said was linked to the crime. No additional details about the arrests or evidence have been provided. The men fled in a car, and Vactor was taken to a hospital where police later pronounced him dead.
How did Johnny Victor die?
The county medical examiner has determined that Vactor died from a gunshot wound to the chest, classifying the incident as a homicide. The deceased’s brother Grant Vactor previously revealed that Johnny Vactor, who worked as a bartender, did not confront the thieves. Instead, he was attempting to protect his colleague while walking to his vehicle after his shift at a downtown LA bar when the thieves approached him. Grant said Johnny put his body in front of his colleague and put his hands up when he was shot.
