New Delhi:
Suriya’s latest offering Kanguva has received mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike. However, Suriya’s latest film received major displeasure from wife Jyothika. Jyothika shared a poster featuring the lead actor and Bobby Deol on her Instagram feed and wrote a detailed note expressing her thoughts and feelings. The Shaitan actor also talked about the issue of Kanguva receiving negative reviews on the very first day of its release. Jyotika started her post with a disclaimer that she expressed her views as a cinema lover and not as Suriya’s wife. Jyotika wrote, “I have written this note as Jyotika and a cinema lover, and not as actor Surya’s wife – Kanguva – a brilliant artiste in cinema.
Surya, I am very proud of the actor you are and the courage to dream of taking cinema forward. Of course the first 1/2 hour doesn’t work and the sound is crackly! Flaws are a part of most Indian films, so it makes sense, especially in a film like this that experiments extensively! N This is only the first 1/2 hour of the full 3 hours. But to be honest, it’s a complete cinematic experience! Camera work and execution never seen before in Tamizh cinema, @vetripalanisamy.”
Talking about the negative reviews, Jyotika believes that the film’s effort cannot be tarnished, writing, “I am surprised by the negative reviews from the media and some of the fraternity, because they have given such high standards to it. Has not worked at standard.” One of the most non-intellectual big budget movies I have seen before with old stories where women are chased, double meaning dialogues are spoken and they have over the top action sequences.. What to say about the positivity of Kanguva Is? Part Two And the young boy’s love and betrayal for Kangwa? I guess they forgot about the good parts while reviewing.
Now it makes me wonder quite a bit whether anyone should ever read, listen to or believe these! It’s sad that they chose to cause so much negativity for Kangwa on the first day, even before the first show was over (seemed like a lot of group promotion) when it was actually the concept and work done by the team to create 3D and such. Deserves appreciation for the effort. Great view!”
Jyotika signed the note with these words, “Be proud Team Kanguva, because those who are commenting negatively are doing just that and have nothing else to their credit for the upliftment of cinema!” To keep an eye:
In his review for NDTV, film critic Saibal Chatterjee wrote, “Canguva is a visual treat enhanced by the star’s tremendous screen presence. If there was more to the script than just sentimentality and insider knowledge, this would be a film that would be perfectly worthy of a sequel, which is currently in the works. ,
