Although South Korean pop star Hyuna has publicly addressed her struggle with eating disorders over the years, she hasn’t elaborated on it.
The K-pop veteran artist, who was only 15 years old when she was smiling on the music stage, finally recognized herself. She confessed that she managed to eat only “one piece” of sushi a day to maintain her weight of 88 pounds (40 kg).
This excessive diet had some consequences as it took a toll on his health, leading to serious consequences.
During her early years, Hyundai followed a hectic schedule, subsisting on minimal food. “At that time, I survived on a piece of kimbap while completing all the scheduled activities. And he destroyed me. By the age of 26, I was very unhealthy,” she recalls.

Hyuna ‘survives on a piece of kimbap’
The effects on her body became apparent when she developed peripheral neuritis, a condition that causes fainting due to inadequate food intake.
He shared, “Whenever my weight went down too much, it would trigger. I would faint after surviving on just one piece of kimbap. I fainted 12 times in a month.”
In 2020, Hyuna faced health challenges while filming a music video for her album I’m Not Cool. She remained unconscious and continued to struggle.
Addressing one such incident, she wrote on Instagram, “I was dancing happily, but I fell again, so I was very upset because my body did not allow me to do what I wanted 100 percent ”
His blood pressure dropped to 70/40, preventing him from continuing shooting.
Depression and anxiety disorders also plagued the K-pop legend
In 2019, he confirmed his diagnosis, highlighting his physical struggles as well as mental health battles.

Despite these difficulties, Hyuna has had a remarkable career. She initially debuted as part of the girl group Wonder Girls in 2007, later leaving the group and returning to the industry with 4 Minutes.
He also formed the musical duo Trouble Maker and released 10 solo albums.
