Kim Kardashian’s latest SKIMS campaign with Olivia Munn is earning praise for proudly showing off a scar after her breast cancer journey.
Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS campaign is mostly minimalist, chic, and clean, getting the products a lot of discussion, and certainly the faces marketing them talking. His latest fling with actor Olivia Munn is no different. Except that it is. The photos shared by Kim are gaining a lot of attention, as the scar on Olivia’s breast is photographed quite casually. Earlier in March this year, Olivia had shared a series of pictures of her ordeal against cancer on her social media handle. The actor revealed that his OBGYN fortunately ran a series of tests, which resulted in his diagnosis of Luminal B, specifically an “aggressive, fast-growing cancer.” This came only 2 months after her sister and she tested negative for 90 different cancer genes, including BRCA, the most well-known breast cancer gene.
Coming back to the campaign, the scar visible on Olivia’s left breast is probably from the breast reconstruction surgery that the actor opted for after undergoing a double mastectomy. Addressing the photos, Olivia expressed in her caption, “In the middle of this latest @SKIMS campaign shoot, I decided I’m done being insecure about my mastectomy scar. Whatever scars life has placed on my body. They are a testament to how hard I worked. I hope other women who are self-conscious about their scars will see these photos and feel the love I send them.” The Internet is, clearly, in awe.
Echoing the same comment, comments read: “The cracks are where the light comes through ❤️”, “This is a true picture of a real woman, great decision Kim. Every rose has thorns. ❤️🌹🥀”, “I love that her mark is loud and proud of what she’s wearing. Love the transparency here. Thank you 👏👏” and “This mark makes the whole ad campaign real.”
Some people have also expressed how Olivia’s exposure of her scar has impacted how they are navigating their own scar journey. One comment in particular read, “Thank you for doing this for all of us. I avoid mirrors after showering, but you’re making me think differently.”
More power to Olivia!
