The Hyderabad Theater community is mourning the unexpected passage of director and actor Saurabh Gharti at 42 am on February 11. He had been struggling with health issues for some time.
His death is especially heartbreaking, because he was taking Manav Kaul’s monolithic on stage, Five grains of sugar On 22 February, marking the 15th anniversary of the play.
Saurabh’s Theater Group, Udan – meaning ‘Udaan’ in Hindi – is a symbol of his artistic vision. An actor, director, musician, workshop facilitator, and acting trainer, he was the founder of the Udan Academy of Arts and Education Theater and was deeply emotional about Hindi and Marathi theater. His two -decade long career made him an integral part of the theater scene of Hyderabad, where he nurtured the emerging talent and contributed to the art.

“It’s shocking – he was a committed theater person,”, one of the established theater groups in Hyderabad, says Vinay Verma, the founder of Sutradhar. Saurabh collaborated with Vinay on plays Natasamrat And Verdict (A adaptation of a Marathi game). Sutradhar also provided him with space in Hayat Nagar to conduct workshops.
Saurabh’s dramatic visit began on 13, when he attended his first theater workshop. He trained the famous theater celebrities including the late Professor Bhaskar Shawkar and Satyabrata Root. His passion for the craft participated in a regional theater workshop organized by the National School of Drama (NSD) in Hyderabad and in another Progressive Dramatic Association in Pune.
By profession, saurabh was a hindi teacher, but he seamlessly blended his Teaching and Theatre Skills to Establish Udaan Arts and Education in 2008. , Nurturing young talent and fostering a love for performance .

As an actor, Saurabh performed notable in over 55 productions, with standout roles in Satya Harischandra, Mother Council and his children and Evam Indrajit. His versatility on stage and command over diverse characters made him a respected name in Hyderabad theater circuit.
Beyond acting, Saurabh was a skilled director who included more than 50 plays.

One of the closest colleagues of Saurabh was one of the supporters, veteran theater actor Suresh Kumar, who in the theater was thanks to Forest Saurabh, who directed him in Marathi drama Wat Paho Toh Premachi in 2007. Both cooperated on many Hindi and Marathi plays, but Suresh is closest to the heart of his heart. Sayan Bean Kotwal, Which is one of Saurabh’s most successful direction undertakings. Says Suresh, “He was a great director who knew how to actually bring the best in his artists.”

Saurabh moved to Mumbai in 2015 to carry forward his dreams in the entertainment industry. He worked in some Marathi serials including popular Swaroop Sambhaji. However, this period proved to be a challenging phase, as he faced a health issue that forced him to return to Hyderabad. He survives his parents, wife and two children-a 12-year-old son and nine-year-old daughter.
