Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor and others turned out to vote in the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai early on Monday morning. Voting is going on from 7 am on 13 Lok Sabha seats of Maharashtra including six seats of Mumbai.
“I want my India to develop and become strong and I kept these things in my mind when I went to vote. All Indians should think what is right for them and vote,” Kumar said after casting his vote at a polling booth in Juhu.
Kumar voted for the first time after obtaining Indian citizenship.
“My vote is for good governance, a government that takes care of all the people, gives us a better city,” Akhtar told PTI while standing in a queue to cast his vote at a polling booth in Bandra West. The actor-filmmaker urged people, especially the youth, to come out and vote. Akhtar said, “I just heard from someone that the youth are complaining that it is very hot but it is not hot at all, so please go out, vote.”
Other Bollywood celebrities who voted in the morning included Sanya Malhotra and filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, “Vote because you have a choice! Vote because you have a voice!! Veteran actress Shubha Khote along with her actress-daughter Bhavana Balsawar arrived to cast her vote.
“I have come here and want everyone to vote for the right person. We should get whatever is needed. I hope everyone will be inspired after seeing us and come out to vote,” Khote said after casting his vote at a polling booth at Gandhigram School in Mumbai’s Juhu area.
