Black marketing of Coldplay tickets
A few days before this, the cyber wing of Maharashtra Police had issued a notice to BookMyShow, asking it to implement strict measures including the sale of name-based tickets for British band Coldplay’s concert and other shows in January.
The notice was issued by Maharashtra Cyber to prevent exploitation of fans buying tickets from online platforms, an official said on Wednesday. He said the number of complaints about problems in booking tickets for such high-profile concerts and events is increasing on online forums and social media.
He said many people reported unresponsive websites during critical booking periods, leading to black marketing of tickets at exorbitant prices, sometimes up to 10 times the original price. Maharashtra Cyber found that the measures taken by the platforms to avoid such situations are inadequate, the official said.
