New Delhi: South Sensation Kalyani Priyadarshan is based in the success of its latest outing Loca Chapter 1 – Chandra – Malayalam Cinema’s first female superhero flick. Another achievement in her career is that she has now become the Malayalam actress (in a female-centered film) for the first time, whose film has entered a club of Rs 200 crore.
Who is Kalyani Priyadarshan?
The first female superhero of Malayalam cinema, Kalyani is the daughter of famous filmmaker Priyadarshan and actress Lisy. Kalyani started her career as an assistant production designer. She made her acting debut in the Telugu film Hello (2017). Kalyani moved to Tamil cinema with Hero (2019) respectively, and Malayalam Cinema with Varanasamund (2020) respectively.

Kalyani Priyadarshan on Loka success
Kalyani handled her social media handle and posted: “Yesterday, our film reached number one, which was only because of you, beyond the audience. I am beyond speechless, and in fact I am grateful for the love to bathe on this film. In our industry, the material has always been the king, and once again, you have always proved that you will always thank you for finding that you will always be found.”
Loca has crossed Rs 202 crore in box office collections worldwide.

Priyadarshan’s advice to daughter Kalyani
The filmmaker father felt proud of his daughter and gave her a right advice. Kalyani shared a WhatsApp message sent by father to him. “Remember one thing in your mind … Never erase this message … Success should never go on your head and failure should never go to your heart. This is the best advice that I can ever give you.
Responding to this, Kalyani wrote, “Yes, always. Love you.” While BTS paintings from Lokah’s set pleased the fans, it was Priyadarshan’s hearty message for his daughter who actually won the hearts.
Loca Chapter 1 Storyline, Cast
The film is the first installment in the Planned Loca Cinematic Universe, the film with Naslen, Sandy, Arun Kurian, Chandu Salimkumar, Nishant Sagar, Raghunath Paleri, Vijayargan, Nathya Sri and Kalyani with Kalyani Priyadarshan with Sarath Sabha.
Loca also has special cameos by Dalkar, Towino Thomas, Saubin, Anna Ben and others, while Mamooty has given a major character voice.
It is currently the third highest grossing Malayalam film of 2025.
