Meet Tara and Trisha, 16-year-old twin musicians from Bengaluru, who have been interested in music since childhood. He began singing in church and community events at three and developed formal musical skills at five. By the age of ten, she had formed a girl band, which frequently performed at school functions and local festivals. He gained more experience in stage productions, excelling in performances that demonstrated his ability to handle complex harmonies.
an early start
His talent was further highlighted when he was cast in his school’s production of In the Heights, where he gained valuable experience in full stage productions. His ability to easily understand and hear complex five-part harmonies at just ten years of age set him apart.
By the age of 12, he began performing professionally and gained recognition in local competitions. Tara, known for her improvisation skills, bagged the lead role in School of Rock, while Trisha contributed with her distinctive voice. A notable breakthrough during lockdown came when Tara’s rendition of Via Dolorosa caught the attention of Broadway composer Mark Schoenfeld, giving her a role in his production, Music Boy.
Tara tells us, “Being twins has impacted our music because we understand each other so completely, and our chemistry helps us make music that feels personal, real, and fun! This process It’s also a lot of fun producing each other. We both love harmonizing together and we actually call it our ‘magic twin blend’ and it definitely adds magic to our songs.”
new experiences
The duo has since expanded their repertoire to include eight original songs and have collaborated with various industry professionals, including Berklee alumni and songwriters associated with major artists. Their music is a mix of pop, dance pop and ballads, often reflecting themes of youth, heritage and friendship.
Tara and Trisha have received guidance from industry stalwarts in acting, composing and performing, including people from successful TV and film projects. They are currently represented by United Talent Agency and continue to perform in several cities.
What are their expectations from the future? “I mean it’s crazy to think that so much of what we hoped for has come true! If you would have told us 2 years ago that we would be writing multiple original songs and collaborating with incredible award-winning artists last year, we would have said no way! But that’s exactly what happened! It truly is a dream come true and we can’t wait to work with more amazing people and create more music that will connect and resonate with people around the world,” he tells us.
