Nana Patekar was once a part of the film ‘Parinda’. The veteran actor opened up about being replaced by Jackie Shroff in the film at Anil Kapoor’s insistence. Nana Patekar was to play the role of Anil’s brother in the film, earlier Jackie Shroff was replaced in the film. The ‘Welcome’ actor recently admitted that he was angry with Anil for encouraging this change, while Anil defended his move by saying that it was the director’s decision at the end of the day.

Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar’s friendship

Later the two came together to promote Nana’s upcoming film ‘Vanvas’ directed by Anil Sharma. During a conversation with Indian Express, Nana Patekar, who reunited with Kapoor to promote Nana’s upcoming film ‘Vanvas’ directed by Anil Sharma, said, “You troubled me a lot during Parinda. Let me tell you, I Was going to play the role of brother.” We also did rehearsals for the film, because of Anil Jackie was hired later.

When Nana said, “But I would like to thank him, because if he had not insisted on Jackie, I would not have got the role of Anna,” Anil Kapoor only smiled.

After this Anil Kapoor presented his side of the story. “You would be surprised, I was a casting director in the film Hum Paanch… I have done many odd jobs. I was in production, I was in casting, I used to take stars to the sets… I used to follow Naseeruddin Shah. I have had a big role in the casting for Hum Paanch, but honestly I thought Jackie would be the best choice for the role of my brother in Parinda. “

“Because of your honesty, I lost this role. Do you realize I didn’t work with you for 19 years after that? I thought, ‘This is such a rubbish man, man’, Nana said, to which Anil Kapoor replied, ‘It was nothing against you. I only gave a suggestion to the director, and the final decision was his. Remember this. These people shoot over the shoulders of heroes,” in the same conversation.

Nana Patekar immediately quipped, “But you were the star, of course he would listen to you. However, Jackie did a good job. He won a Filmfare Award for his performance.”

Anil Kapoor couldn’t stop defending himself and said, “Our family has been in the film business for 60 years, please know that I will not compromise the film for anything. We are friends now, after so many years…”

Nana then thanked Anil for helping him promote his upcoming film ‘Vanvas’ and said, “Now you have changed, but then you will behave like a star.”

Earlier, in an interview with The Lallantop, Patekar had admitted that he does not like the company of Vidhu Vinod Chopra. He had said, “Whenever I meet him, I want it to be the last meeting.”
