History of Narada Jayanti
According to Hindu mythology, Narada Muni was cursed to be born on earth for being a Hindu Gandharva in his previous life. His father was a servant of a group of holy priests and he was born in a simple family. The priests were very impressed with Narada because just like his father, he too served them with utmost dedication and devotion. Narada’s diligence impressed the priests a lot and they gave him blessings and prasad from Lord Vishnu.
Narada became a devoted devotee of Lord Vishnu as a result of the stories of his exploits being repeatedly narrated by the priests. After his mother’s death, Narada left his home and started wandering in the forests in search of knowledge. It is believed that Narada once saw Lord Vishnu meditating under a tree.
Lord Vishnu was pleased and told Narada that he would not be able to assume his divine form until he died. After this incident, Narada Muni devoted his life to the service of the Lord and gained fame as a major supporter of Vishnu. By the grace of Lord Vishnu, Narada’s spiritual form was reborn after his death.
