One of the highlights of the interview was when Nicole opened up about playing a sexually charged character in the film. “There was a tremendous amount of partnership and trust and then there was frustration. It’s like, ‘Don’t touch me’. Many times when we were shooting I would say, ‘I don’t want to orgasm anymore. Don’t come near me. I hate doing this. I don’t care that I’ll never be touched again in my life!’ I’m on it. It was so present for me all the time that it was almost like a burnout,” she said.

Fans had a lot to say about this strange revelation. The first reaction was one of amused support. One netizen said, “I really support her, let Nicole be awkward in public.” “We’ve all been there,” another confused while another fan commented, “I’ll have everything he has.” Others explained the reason behind this strange confession, saying that it was all about gaining publicity for the film. “Is this just the new PR move to create buzz about your film? Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield told a similar story about their little romance movie,” one said. “Okay, it’s good marketing,” was another widely positive comment. “Cheap way to get attention. “I always thought she was more awesome than that,” was a more authentic statement from another fan.

Nicole also said that it was true that a female director she trusted was behind the lens. “I don’t think I could have done it working with a man. I really think the only way to do it was with him because the two of us would sit down and talk. We talked about a lot of things and still do, it’s very confidential and unsafe – but it’s safe,” she said. “With Helina in my hands, I knew she would not exploit me. I didn’t feel like I was exploited,” the Oscar-winning star added.

Nicole received some of the best reviews of her career for her role in the film when it premiered at the Venice Film Festival in September. Baby girl Will be released in US theaters on December 25.
