Paul Teal, a TV and theater actor best known for his role as one Tree HillHe died at the age of 35 in Raleigh, North Carolina, TMZ reports. Teale’s representative confirmed that he died on Friday, revealing that the actor had been suffering from cancer.

Teal’s partner Emilia Torello shared with tmz In April he was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Torello posted an emotional tribute on her Instagram account, writing, “You were my soulmate, my soon-to-be husband, my rock and my future. You were captured very soon, in a battle which you fought bravely without failure. While a part of me died with you, I promise that I will fight to find happiness in life as much as you fought to live every day.

Teal gained recognition for his seven-episode role as Josh one Tree HillHis character’s storyline involved him pursuing Alex, played by Jan Kramer, before revealing his true identity as a gay man.

Bethany Joy Lenz, Teal co-star and director one Tree Hillalso took to Instagram to share an emotional post about her friend. They recalled their first meeting during a 2006 theater production notebook,

“I worked closely with Paul for months when he played Noah in my and Ron Aniello’s musical production of The Notebook in 2006. He was shy and funny and very comfortable on stage. Very good. Like his second skin. You can’t take your eyes off him,” she wrote.

Lenz added, “Later, I was excited to direct an episode one Tree Hill Where I would get a chance to cast a new recurring character, Josh – the sleazy movie star. With his self-effacing sense of humor and willingness to become completely immersed in any character, Paul was perfect for the role. He was a pleasure to work with in any environment and was very generous.”
