An Oscar winner is released by Palestinian director and two other Israel, a day later he was beaten badly by Jewish settlers and detained by Israeli forces at the occupied West Bank.
Associated Press Journal On Tuesday (March 25, 2025), Hamdan Ballal and two other Palestinians left the police station in the West Bank Basti of Kirat Araba, where they were being held. Balal scratched his face and blood on his clothes.
Hamdan Ballal and other directors of the “no other land”, who look at the struggles to live under the occupation of Israel, on the beginning of this month on stage at the 97th Academy Awards at Los Angeles, when he won the award for the best documentary film.
On Tuesday, he and two other Palestinians were being held at a police station at the West Bank occupied. His lawyer, Li Tsamel, said that he would soon be released after spending the night on the floor of a military base, while suffering from serious injuries in the attack.
The Israeli army said on Monday that it had detained three Palestinians, suspected of bouncing rocks on forces and an Israeli citizen was described as a violent confrontation. On Tuesday, it mentioned more questions to the police, who did not immediately respond to the request of the comment.
The director’s wife Lamia Ballal said that she heard her husband beating her outside her house, as she had entered inside with her three children. He heard him shouting, “I’m dying!” And is calling for an ambulance. When he looked out of the window, he looked at three people in a similar beating with another person in his rifle butts and civil clothing, which appeared to be filming violence.
“Of course, after the Oscars, they have come to attack us more,” said Ms. Lamia. “I scared.”
