Film director Paul Feig is teaming up with Blumhouse Productions CEO Jason Blum for the film adaptation of Netflix’s docu-series ‘Worst Roommate Ever’. The Hollywood Reporter.

Feig is all set to direct the film, which is about a single woman who finds the perfect gentleman to rent out the spare room in her dream house, but later learns that her deception extends far beyond just a fake name and application. She’s unwittingly let a serial squatter into her home, and he’s not going to go away without a fight.

“Jason and I have been looking for a great project to work on together for several years, and this story is designed to deliver the kind of comedy of fear, adventure, emotion and awe that he and I love to entertain audiences with,” Feig said in a statement. “In other words, I’m so happy I found Jason to be the best roommate ever for this film.”

Feig recently completed ‘The School of Good and Evil’ for Netflix. His next projects include directing and producing the action-comedy picture ‘Jackpot’ for Amazon MGM Studios, as well as finishing production on ‘A Simple Favor 2’, a sequel to the 2018 thriller of the same name.

Laura Fisher will produce the feature adaptation of ‘Worst Roommate Ever’, marking the first time Blumhouse has produced both a film and television series based on the same intellectual property. New York Magazine William Brennan’s article inspired an original unscripted TV series from Blumhouse Television, which has earned two seasons on Netflix.

Feig is excited to collaborate with Jason Blum on the film adaptation: “Jason and I have been trying to find the right project to collaborate on for several years and this story is crafted to deliver the scares, thrills, emotion, and horror comedy that he and I love to entertain audiences with. In other words, I’m so happy to have found the best roommate ever in Jason for this film,” he said in a statement.
