Right day Star Yakusho Koji was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at 18th Asian Film Awards

Veteran Japanese actor Yakusho Koji will be awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 18th Asian Film Awards in Hong Kong, Japan.

After the right day actor Yakusho, director Yamada Yoji (2008) and actress Kiki Kirin (2016), became the third Japanese recipient of AFA’s highest praise. The actor has won the Best Actor Award in Cannes 2023 for his performance in the first film ‘Perfect Days’. It was directed by Wim Wenders.

According to the outlet, Yakusho Koji is a civil servant who first entered the Taiga drama (a long -running TV series aired by NHK) and then played in several films by Kurosawa Akira.

He became the lead star of the 1990s in Asia as a result of “Will Dance Dance”? In which he depicted a ballroom dancer, and “Lost Paradise”. He also acted in Itar Juzo’s “Tempopo”, stated by the variety.

This honor recognizes Yakusho’s four decades of contribution to cinema. The acclaimed artist was nominated four times and has earlier nominated AFA Best Actor Trophy twice for “The Blood of Volves” (2018) and “Perfect Days” (2023).

Yakusho expressed his happiness over receiving the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the 18th Asian Film Awards and said that the award serves as an inspiration for him to do even better work in the remaining years of his acting career.

“I was really humble to hear the names of previous recipients and found myself in the fear of such iconic figures,” said Yakusho. “Getting this award inspires me to try to do even better work in the remaining years of my acting career.” Diversity quoted.

The 18th Asian Film Awards have been set on 16 March at the XIQUE Center in Hong Kong in the West Covloon Cultural District. Apart from the award ceremony, Yakusho will participate in the screening of “Perfect Days” on March 15, where he will engage with Hong Kong fans, Variety reported.
