Saif Ali Khan Stabling Case: Mumbai Police operates identity parade for accused

Mumbai: Mumbai Police on Wednesday conducted an identity parade for the Unulal Islam Shahzad in the case of stabbing Saif Ali Khan at Arthur Road Jail.

According to officials, Shehzad, who had allegedly entered Saif’s residence with the intention of stealing, was identified by witnesses present during the incident.

Police said they have strong evidence involving crime, including CCTV footage and positive facial recognition tests.

Last month, Saif was attacked by an intruder, later identified as Mohammad Tejasful Islam Shahzad, who allegedly entered his house to steal. During a violent collision, Saif stabbed his thoracic spine and wounds in other parts of his body. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for immediate treatment.

The identity parade took place in the office of a senior jailer in Arthur Road Jail in the presence of a tehsildar after the approval of the court. Staff nurses Ariama Philip and Aya Junu, who were present inside Saif’s residence during the attack, participated in identifying the accused.

On 31 January, the Mumbai Police conducted the face recognition test of the accused.

The Mumbai police said, “Arrested Mohammad Tejasful Islam Shahzad’s face identity conducted a positive test. According to the test, CCTV footage and Mohammad Shariful Islam Shahzad are confirmed to be the person in the same person.”

As the investigation continues, the Mumbai Police claimed that they had enough evidence against the arrested accused. He also confirmed that he entered India from Bangladesh and stayed at various places in Kolkata before coming to Mumbai.

Last month, Additional Police Commissioner Paramjit Singh Dahiya denied the rumors that the fingers of the accused did not match. “Whenever an allegation is arrested, many evidences are collected against it. We have found very oral, physical and technical evidence against the accused … We have caught the right person,” he said.

According to the police, the accused entered the actor’s residence with the intention of stealing.

A case has been registered under sections 311, 312, 331 (4), 331 (6), and 331 (7) Indian Nai Code (BNS).

Police said the accused was planning to flee his original village in Bangladesh, but was detained at Hiranandani Estate in Thane.

However, his advocate, Sandeep Sheikhne denied police claims and alleged that “no proper investigation” was done.
