Sandeep Reddy Wanga questioned the bias of the industry: 'Why is Ranbir Kapoor praised, while the animal is criticized?'

Mumbai: Animal director Sandeep Reddy Wanga has once again argued by questioning the film industry’s opposite reactions to its blockbuster. While Animal became one of the highest grossing films of 2024, it also faced criticism for its extreme violence and alleged misconceptions. However, in a recent conversation with Komal Nahta on the game changer, Wanga expressed her disappointment over the double standards of the industry – where Ranbir Kapoor was unanimously praised, but the film itself was strictly criticized.

During the interview, Vanga revealed that even those who strictly criticized the animal, had nothing but praise for Ranbir Kapoor’s performance. He shared, “One thing I saw – the people within the industry who slammed the animal, said,” But Ranbir Toh Tod Dia (Ranbir broke it). ” See, I am not jealous of Ranbir, but I do not understand this inequality. “

Wanga believes that this selective criticism stems from professional selfishness. He said that the filmmaker and the inner formula of the industry hesitate to criticize a superstar like Ranbir Kapoor, fearing that it may affect his possibility of working with him in the future. “They want to work with Ranbir. Because if they say something negative about it, it can affect their professional relationships. I am easy to target because I am new here, ”he commented.

He further explained that the actors appear in many films in a year, while the directors make a film every few years. According to Wanga, this power affects the dynamic, way of giving their opinion to the professionals of the industry. “For actors, there are more frequent cooperation, so people are careful about what they say. But for filmmakers like me, who take two to three years for a project, criticism comes more easily. ,

Asked if he feels like an outsider in the industry, Wanga refused to believe in “Insider vs. Outside Person”, but admitted to feel a click mentality. He compared his experience to be a new student in an old school. “If you are studying in a school since kindergarten, and one is involved in the 10th standard, then there is naturally a sense of seniority,” he explained, saying that the established Bollywood circles may be excluded towards new people.

He also recalled a disturbing experience, where an actor of his previous film Kabir Singh was allegedly denied by the Bollywood production house due to his association with the film. Wanga challenged this prejudice, questioning whether the entrepreneurs of the industry dared to blacklist actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Triptty Dimri, or Rashmika Mandanna, who were also part of the animal.

Despite the backlash, the Wanga remains unaffected and is already working in the sequel to Animal Park, Animal. While he accepts criticism, his latest statements suggest that he is not afraid to tell what he sees as hypocrisy of the industry.
