Satyanarayan Vrat July 2024: Date, Puja Time, Puja Rituals and Significance of Purnima Vrat

Purnima is celebrated as a day of reverence to Lord Vishnu and has religious significance in the Hindu tradition. On this auspicious Purnima day, devotees offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Vishnu. Devotees also participate in the Sri Satyanarayana Vrat ritual. According to the Drik Panchang, the Purnima Tithi falls in the month of Ashadha and the Ashadha Purnima Vrat will be observed on July 21, 2024.

Satyanarayan Vrat July 2024: Importance

Ashadha Purnima holds a great significance in Hinduism as it is an extremely religious day dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Devotees observe a fast in his honour and perform the worship of Satyanarayana. This day is revered as it is believed that the divine rays of the full moon touch the earth and spread auspicious energy far and wide.

In astrology, the moon influences mental abilities, moods, mind and emotions. During the full moon, individuals often experience heightened intuition, connecting deeply with their higher self. Keeping the Satyanarayana Vrat is believed to bring blessings from Lord Vishnu, which brings relief from difficulties and fulfillment of desired desires.

Satyanarayan Vrat July 2024: Worship Method

1. Devotees wake up early in the morning and take a holy bath.

2. Clean your house, offer Arghya to Lord Sun and seek blessings of Lord Sun.

3. Satyanarayan puja can be performed at any time (morning, mid-day and evening).

4. People can perform Satyanarayan puja themselves or they can get it done through a qualified priest.

5. Take a wooden plank and cover it with a red or yellow cloth.

6. Place Satyanarayana idol/picture, offer garland and decorate the plank with banana leaves, apply yellow sandalwood tilak and spread some rice, place a kalash filled with water and then light a diya of pure desi ghee.

7. Prepare Panchamrit (a mixture of milk, curd, honey, sugar powder and few drops of ghee) and make Panjiri (roast wheat flour and when it turns brown, put it in a bowl and let it cool, add some sugar powder and bananas cut into small pieces and mix) and prepare Rice Kheer. This is the Bhog Prasadam, which is offered to Lord Satyanarayan.

8. Add basil leaves in panchamrit and panjiri.

9. Read or listen to Satyanarayan Vrat Katha and then chant “Om Jai Lakshmi Raman Aarti” and “Om Jai Jagdish Hare Aarti”.

10. After completing all the puja rituals, keep some bhog prasad in that Kalash and then offer the water of that Kalash to the Moon to honor the Moon God and receive his blessings.

11. Distribute the Bhog Prasad among all the family members.

12. Devotees can break their fast by eating Bhog Prasad first and then they can eat Satvik food without onion, garlic.

13. Do not consume any tamasic food item on this auspicious day.
