Screening of film 'Humare Barah' banned in Karnataka

The state government has banned the screening of the controversial Hindi film. Our Twelve Citing law and order concerns, the government ordered a ban on its trailer on any platform for two weeks or until further orders.

The government’s order came a day ahead of its release on Friday, after several Muslim organisations raised concerns over the “provocative” and “derogatory” portrayal of the community in the film.

The Bombay High Court has also stayed the release of the film till June 14.

According to the order, the screening of the film or its trailer has been banned under the Karnataka Cinema Regulation Act, 1964.

BK Bhuvanendra Kumar, Under Secretary, Home Department, issued an order banning the release of the film and its trailer in electronic media, social media, theatres, private television channels and other media.
