paris [France]Singer Shaan added a musical flavour to the opening ceremony of India House at Paris Olympics 2024. Dressed in a blazer set, Shaan mesmerized the audience present at the launch of India House in Paris on Saturday.
India House falls within the ambitions of a long-term partnership between Reliance Foundation and the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), aimed at improving the performance of Indian athletes, supporting National Sports Federations and building India’s credentials as a global sporting nation with the aspiration to host Olympic Games in the future.
India took a bold step forward towards its global sporting ambitions with India House participating for the first time at the Paris Olympics.
Take a look at the post:
This landmark initiative was aimed at propelling India towards becoming a major force in global sports, achieving greater success at the Olympics, and paving a path towards hosting the Games in the future.
A cornerstone of the Olympic Games, Olympic hospitality houses serve as a platform for participating nations to showcase their culture, hospitality and national pride to athletes, media, visitors and supporters. These houses serve as a venue for fans to celebrate and support their athletes/teams during competitions, and act as a “home away from home” for athletes and their families during the Games.
The Olympic House also becomes a gathering place for fans of the country’s team to hold “watch-parties” and celebrate during competitive events, and in some cases, medal-winning athletes may also attend later in the day or even in the evening.
The India House at the Paris Games will be a showcase of India for fans from around the world, key stakeholders of the global sports world, Indian travellers, media and athletes. This will be the first time that Indian athletes will have a home at the Olympics, to celebrate India’s sporting achievements and sportspersons.
The Indian team has 117 athletes and they will participate in 16 events. The Olympics began on July 26 and will end on August 11.
Earlier on Saturday, India’s top shooter Manu Bhaker qualified for the final of the Paris Olympics by finishing third in the qualification round of the women’s 10m air pistol event. While Rhythm Sangwan failed to make it to the final by finishing 15th.
Manu Bhaker performed brilliantly in the qualification round. Manu scored 97 points in the first two series. In the third series, 22-year-old Bhaker scored 98 points. In the last three series, she scored 96 points and finished third with a total of 580-27x.
On the other hand, Manu’s teammate Rhythm finished 15th with 573-14x points and failed to make it to the final round.
Indian shooters Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Cheema failed to make it to the final round of the men’s 10m air pistol event.
Cheema (18th with 574-17x points) and Sarabjot (9th with 577-16x points) failed to make it to the last eight to qualify for the medal round.
India’s shooting campaign at the Paris 2024 Olympics got off to a disappointing start as two Indian teams competing in the qualification rounds of the 10m air rifle mixed team events failed to make it to the medal matches on Saturday.
Two Indian pairs, Elavenil Valarivan and Sandeep Singh and Arjun Babuta and Ramita Jindal, took part in the 10m air rifle mixed team qualifiers. Only four out of the 28 teams had the fortune to qualify further for the knockout stages, i.e. a gold medal match for the top two teams and a bronze medal match for the third and fourth placed teams. India could not make it to the last four.
Ramita and Arjun finished sixth after three series with a total of 628.7 points, of which Ramita scored 314.5 and Arjun scored 314.2. They finished just one point behind Germany, which finished fourth with 629.7 points.
On the other hand, the pair of Elavenil and Sandeep finished 12th with 626.3 points, with Elavenil scoring 312.6 and Sandeep scoring 313.7.
