When asked in an interview about the timeless quality of his and KK’s voice, Shaan said, “KK even more so. I was quite comfortable doing ‘filmy’ singing, keeping in mind the personality of the hero and adding some sparkle to my performance. KK always kept a strong filter of honesty in his singing style. Maybe there wasn’t that much pomp and show. Of course, he sang for Emraan Hashmi, and he also sang a few songs for Shahrukh Khan, but not at that level. And this is because there was no ‘filminess’ in his singing. And I would say to him, ‘KK, bring some more bravery into your voice’, and he would say, ‘Brother, I am fine the way I am.’

In the same interview, Shaan shared that he believed honesty worked in KK’s favor. He further added, “The next generation of musicians wanted KK to sing for them more than he wanted us to sing.” When asked why, Shan said, “Because they could relate to that singing; They didn’t think it was too flashy, too over-the-top. There was a rawness in his voice, some honesty, some authenticity… He wanted the same simple singing.”
