Shark Tank India judge Namita Thapar makes debut at Cannes

Entrepreneur and ‘Shark Tank India’ judge Namita Thapar made her debut at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival. On the second day of Cannes 2024, he attended the premiere of Chris Hemsworth-starrer Furiosa A Mad Max Saga.

Namita shared pictures from the French Riviera on Instagram. She looked stunning in a ruffled, off-the-shoulder gown by Lebanese fashion designer Elio Abu Faisal.

Like every year, this time too many Indian stars are expected to dazzle at the Cannes Film Festival 2024. Celebrities like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aditi Rao Hydari and Shobhita Dhulipala will also mark their presence at the 77th Cannes Film Festival.

The Cannes Film Festival opened on Tuesday night with the world premiere of Quentin Dupuis’s ‘Le Deuxième Acte (The Second Act)’ starring Léa Seydoux, Vincent Lindon, Louis Garrel and Raphaël Quenard. During the opening ceremony, Oscar winner Meryl Streep received an honorary Palm d’Or.

India Pavilion was inaugurated in Cannes on Wednesday.

Representing the country, Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, joined the event along with His Excellency Javed Ashraf, Ambassador of India to France.

Organized each year by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, India’s participation in the prestigious Cannes Film Festival is led by the National Film Development Corporation as the nodal agency and FICCI as the industry partner.

The pavilion reflects India’s continued commitment to showcasing its rich cinematic heritage and promoting international collaboration with the global film fraternity. Several states/UTs like Jammu and Kashmir, Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra are representing India at the Cannes Film Market this year.

During the inauguration of the India Pavilion, Tholoana Rose Ncheke, Chairperson of the National Film and Video Foundation, South Africa, Christian Jeune, Director of the Film Department, Deputy General Delegate of the Cannes Film Festival and filmmaker Richie Mehta also marked their presence.

Speaking at the inauguration, Sanjay Jaju said, “It’s a pleasure to have more Indian projects in the official selection of Cannes this year, in an uncertain relationship with each competition and I also acknowledge that both these projects have been beneficiaries of the support ” “Government in terms of incentives as well as official core production.”

“The India Pavilion here will serve as a hub for networking, collaboration and promotion of Indian cinema on the global platform. We want to foster a greater collaboration between the Indian audio-visual industry and international counterparts, thereby increasing visibility and reach. “To serve the national goal of harnessing the power of cinema to establish Indian cinema across the world and enhance the soft touch of the country,” the Secretary said.

Richie Mehta also shared his views on the festival.

Its role is important in a multipolar world with great uncertainty as we transition from the existing international order to a new one. This is the first time that the country will host the India Gala at the Cannes Film Festival to connect with film personalities, filmmakers, directors, producers, buyers and sales agents from across the world and showcase the creative opportunities and rich bank. Creative talent.

Bharat Parv will also unveil the official poster and trailer of the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28.
