Siddhant Chaturvedi, who earned wide acclaim for his debut role in the 2019 film Gully Boy Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s co-star, recently revealed that he almost backed out The Depths He had to leave the film because he had to do intimate scenes with Deepika Padukone. Directed by Shakun Batra, The Depths The novel delves into complex themes of relationships, infidelity, and ambition.
In an interview with Filmfare, Siddhant revealed that he was nervous while filming an intimate scene with Deepika. He revealed that the situation got so tense that both his father and producer Karan Johar had to intervene. Siddhant recalled the conversation he had with his father, who urged him to overcome his hesitation. His father said, “Listen, 99% of the people in India would do anything to get this opportunity. They wouldn’t even think about it for a second. What are you thinking? Please be a man, be professional, this is your job.”
Siddhanth said that his father reminded him of the opportunity he had and said, “He said, ‘It doesn’t matter. You are the one who will define things. If you want to be a good actor then do this. You will never be something special unless you redefine things. Siddhanth, this is Dharma, this is Deepika Padukone, this is Shakun Batra, and you have to do this,'”.
In the same interview, Siddhanth also talked about his relatives’ reaction to the film. “All my relatives were stunned,” he said. “All my relatives lost their cool. They started saying, ‘We thought he has become an actor, but now he is doing too much, he is living our dreams.’ What could they do or say? My uncle was shy the whole time and just kept smiling at me. I used to think, ‘First watch the film and understand what it is about’, but they would just focus on the intimate scenes and smile at them. No one talked about it like that.”
ICYDK: In Gehraiyaan, Siddhant plays Zain, a charismatic and mysterious character who is caught in a complicated love triangle with Ananya Panday and Deepika Padukone. The film released directly on OTT and received mixed reviews.
