Bardhaman: Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly opened his biopic and shared that Bollywood actor Rajkumar Rao would portray him in the film. Talking to the media, he said, “Rajkummar Rao will play the role of what I have heard (Titular role) … but there are issues of dates … So it will take more than a year to hit the screen.”

The former captain played 113 Tests and 311 Odis for India. The left -handed batsman scored 18,575 runs in all formats in his international career. Rajkumar of Kolkata later became the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and was later appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Control for Cricket. In October last year in India (BCCI).

He inspired India for the 21 Test win and the 2003 World Cup final. Southpow also served in the BCCI technical committee and was a member of the Cricket Advisory Committee along with Indian great people Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. Ganguly called time on his international career in 2008 and ended with over 18,000 international runs.

Talking about Rajkummar Rao’s work front, he will be seen in ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’, including Vamik Gabbi. The producers recently unveiled the teaser of the film.

The teaser begins with the families of Rajkumar and Vamika who fix their wedding dates. Everything seems normal until turmeric ceremony, where the prince’s character gets blotted with turmeric. But the next day, they find out that it is still 29th, and turmeric preparations are being done again. The day keeps repeating in a loop of a mysterious time, causing confusion and laughter.

However, the main attraction of the teaser was the use of the song ‘Chor Bajari’ from Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘Love Aaj Kaal’ (2009). Interestingly, Vamika Gabbi had a minor role in that film.

Directed by Karan Sharma, Bhool Chuk Maaf is presented by Dinesh Vision under Madock Films in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studio.

Apart from ‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’, Rajkumar Rao has also done ‘Malik’ in his kitty. The film has been produced by Kumar Tuprani under Tips Films Banner and Northern Lights of J. Shewakramani. It will be dramatically released on 20 June 2025.
