The eight-member JYP entertainment group has connected with fans globally. She recently made her debut performance at the prestigious Met Gala. Stray children will grace Good Morning America

On May 13, the group confirmed their participation on the American morning television program broadcast on ABC. The JYP label group will take the stage on May 15 and are expected to perform their latest English single Lose My Breath featuring Charlie Puth. The official social media handles of the LALALALA singers announced the news with the caption, “So excited to announce that we will be performing at @GMA! The announcement of the band’s performance brought a wave of joy among their fans, especially considering that the Lalala singers have a huge fan base in Asia as well as in the US. However, not all netizens, especially Koreans, were happy with the news, especially after the humiliation the group received at this year’s Met Gala. As the first and only K-pop group to make their debut at the “Oscars of Fashion”, they reportedly faced some racist comments made by paparazzi on the red carpet, causing controversy.

Stray Kids ‘racism’ controversy at Met Gala 2024

On May 6, Stray Kids graced the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York for this year’s Met theme, Garden of Time. The boys looked very handsome in beautiful suits and on-point make-up, their pictures are going viral on social media. Another K-pop idol, Blackpink’s Jennie also walked the red carpet, making her second appearance.

However, the internet exploded after the viral clip showed a group of paparazzi making ‘racist’ remarks at the group. Comments like ‘They look like robots,’ ‘Can you please jump,’ and ‘So emotionless and expressionless’ can be heard in the video. Eagle-eyed fans quickly singled out those who were the main culprits behind the lens and their Instagram page was bombarded with messages demanding an apology from the group. Throughout the day, social media was abuzz with fans apologizing for the disrespect shown towards the group.
