Their ordeal begins on October 31, 2024, when Amaran, Starring Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi, released in theatres. While celebrating Diwali with his family, Mr. Vagisan’s phone started ringing continuously with calls from fans trying to talk to Sai Pallavi. Initially, unaware of the reason, she muted her phone to avoid the frequent interruptions. The next day the number of calls increased manifold. It was only after listening to some voice messages that he realized that his mobile number was featured in the film.

In one scene, Sai Pallavi tosses a folded piece of paper towards the hero with her mobile phone number written on it. In real life the number belonged to Mr Vagisan, who had no prior knowledge of the film or the late Major Mukund Varadarajan, whose life was depicted in the film. Many fans believed that the number belonged to Sai Pallavi herself, while some others believed that the number belonged to Major Mukund Varadarajan’s wife Indu Rebecca Varghese.

Despite efforts to clear up the misunderstanding, the calls kept coming, disrupting his daily life. “Since the release of the film, I have not been able to sleep, study, or do basic activities without any interruption. Strangers call me as soon as I turn on my phone. “Due to the continuous calls, I am unable to book a cab and even make/receive calls to the driver,” the student said.

Appeals for resolution were ignored

Mr. Vagisan initially sought a solution by posting on social media tagging the film’s director, Rajkumar Periyasamy, and lead actor Sivakarthikeyan. However, when their requests remained unanswered, they decided to take legal action.

On 7th November, The Hindu Published a report highlighting the plight of Vagesan. However, till now he has not received any response from the makers of the film, but calls are being received continuously on his number.

Through his lawyer, Mr. Vagisan issued a legal notice to the producer and director of the film, demanding that his phone number be immediately removed from the film and demanding ₹1.1 crore as compensation for his suffering. Went. “I don’t want to change my phone number because of this issue as it is linked to my Aadhaar, bank cards and other educational platforms,” ​​he said.
