Filmmaker Sudhir Mishra will be the chairman of the jury that will decide the Kerala State Film Awards 2023. Filmmaker Priyanandanan and cinematographer and filmmaker Azhagappan will head two subcommittees of the preliminary jury panel. Both will also be members of the final jury panel, which will also include filmmaker Lijo Jose Pelissery, writer NS Madhavan, actor N Augustine and composer Sreevalsan J Menon.
The preliminary jury will also include cinematographer Prathap V. Nair, editor Vijay Shankar, writers Shihabudeen Poyathumkadavu, Vinoy Thomas and Malavika Binny and sound recordist CR Chandran. Film critic and writer Janaki Sreedharan will head the jury for awards on cinema-related writing. Film critic Jose K. Manuel and writer OK Santhosh will be the other members. Kerala State Chalachitra Academy secretary C. Ajay will be the member secretary in all panels.
A total of 160 films have been sent for the awards. Jury screening will begin on July 13.
