Hollywood star Angelina Jolie broke tears during the world premiere of her new film Couture at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The 50 -year -old actor became emotional when an audience member sought him to compete with the loss of a loved one for cancer.
The participant revealed that he had recently lost a close friend, motivating Jolie to stay before responding and gather herself. “I am very sorry,” he said according to the report by Entertainment Weekly. The exchange was particularly poignant because Angelina lost her mother, Marcheline Burtrand in 2007 with ovarian and breast cancer, and later had to pass through a preventive double mastectomy in 2013.

Sharing a memory with her mother’s illness, Jolie said to the audience, “One thing I remember that my mother said that when she had cancer, she once told me, we had one dinner and people were asking her how she was feeling and what she was doing, and she said, ‘All ask me about cancer anytime.”
He said, “So I will say, if you know someone who is going through something, then ask them about everything else in their life. They are a whole person, and they are still living.” The audience replied with applause as she spoke.

Earlier during a press conference, Angelina reflected the individual connections felt with the film. “I felt very lucky. The film is very thoughtful, and you just sit through something, and you get to spend time and think about life. Sometimes it is equally simple,” he said.
