Francis Ford Coppola to be honored with AFI Life Achievement Award. His last directorial venture was Megalopolis.

Francis Ford Coppola to be honored by AFI

The acclaimed director, who recently released his long-in-development epic Megalopolis, will be presented the award at a grand tribute ceremony at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on April 26. The 85-year-old filmmaker will be the 50th recipient. This award was first given to John Ford in 1973.

Coppola released Megalopolis, a Roman epic based in modern New York, in September. The film, which first premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, received mixed reviews from critics and flopped with audiences. However, Coppola has stated that he was forced to make Megalopolis as an artist, not a businessman. He self-financed the film.
